Trebbiano, Monteraponi - 2021

Item # 44673 750 mL

Monteraponi is a 10th Century village on a hilltop of the same name. The wine cellars underneath date from this period, making for a truly historic winery and vineyards in the heart of Tuscany. Old vine Trebbiano is grown amid chestnut, oak, and olives trees in a natural amphiitheater with southerly exposure. Hand-harvested, and hand sorted, this delicately crafted Trebbiano is rich and powerful. Elegantly structured with concentrated fruit, dry and full-bodied, the herbaceous, spicy, and savory aromas combine with a linear minerality. It is aged in large Burgundian and Austrian oak barrels. Made in a more natural style, you may want to decant to remove sediment. A wine for the table, pair with rich pork dishes and strong cheese.

Chianti Classico Riservas, at the other end of the spectrum, can be deep and brooding, with notes of underbrush and blackberries augmented by cocoa,...

Vino Nobile di Montepulciano shows the softer side of the grape, containing up to 20% of other varieties. Young Chianti often smells of fresh fruit and herbs, while Chianti Classico Riserva can be dark and brooding. The term “Super Tuscans”...
