A dark, fruity, red sparkling wine that's made from the Lambrusco Salamino grape variety. The grapes were macerated on the skins for two days before fermenting in tank via the Martinotti, or Charmat method. A wine to drink with starters or pizza. The Paltrinieri winery is now run by fourth generation winemaker Alberto and Barbara Paltrinieri.

The Riunite Lambrusco craze in the 1970s and 1980s in the United States paved the way for stellar examples of this red sparkling wine to grace the shelves of retail shops such as ours in present-day New York City. Under the stewardship of Alberto Paltrinieri, Cantina Paltrinieri was the first to introduce a mono-varietal Lambrusco made with 100% of the Sorbara variety, effectively contributing to the development of this sparkling wine category as a whole. This expression is made from 100% of the Salamino grape varietal. A beautiful mix of red and dark fruit flavors, with refreshing acidity, balsamic character, and the faintest level of sweetness on the palate. Go right ahead and pair this with the largest chunk of Parmigiano Reggiano you can find right now!

One item from Emilia-Romagna that hasn’t yet broken through to ubiquity is Lambrusco, the slightly fizzy indigenous red wine that runs the gamut from sweet and desserty to dry, mineral and mouth-gripping.
