The Carricante vineyard for this wine was planted in the late 1800s making these centurian vines some of the oldest on the mountain. This plot is planted in the Caselle area within Milo on the eastern slopes of Etna at an elevation of 800 meters. Family-owned for the past 3 generations and now under the direction of Alfio Cosentino . The vineyard is densely planted at 9000 vines per hectare. This, in addition to the old vines makes for an exquisite and elegant white wine. Unoaked.

Hailing from the eastern slopes of Milo, at the heart of Mount Etna and an elevation of 800 meters. Alfio Cosentino now leads his family estate which has produced wine through the past 3 generations. Alfio Cosentino is also the current mayor of Milo. The Carricante vineyard for this Etna Bianco Superiore were planted in the late 1800’s making these some of the oldest producing vines on Mount Etna. With a vibrant straw yellow in the glass, this wine immediately grabbed my attention. Powerful hints of ripe yellow fruit, like papaya and mango balance with a refined herbal notes like fresh cut grass and thyme. The sip is long and luxurious due to the extended maceration on the skins. Fresh and savory, with good persistence and a long finish. What more could you wish for in Etna Bianco.
