Inizia, Christophe Ferrandis - 2018

750 mL
Item # 42936

A red Corsican wine made from a mix of red and white native grapes from Golf de Bastia way up north on the island. Mostly Minustellu but finished off with the aromatic Aleatico, Rimenese, Genovese and Bianco Gentil. It's an old Corsican tradition to co-ferment red and white grapes. Originally a native of Marseilles, Christophe Ferrandis turned to agriculture and winemaking after studying the classics in university. After studying enology and working at Chateau de Pibarnon in Bandol, he settled in Corsica decades ago.

Imagine he did not choose a military career and instead became a winemaker like Christophe Ferrandis, who went back to his roots and started to plant indigenous vines in the Corsican tradition. That’s how Inizia was born. A perfect combination of native red and white grapes from the Gulf of Bastia. This bottle of red is fruit-forward, with a nice balance between the tannins and acidity. Red fruits all the way.
