Staff Pick Notes

I've always thought well made white Burgundy has a little magic, putting it on a different level than other wines. The Pernand-Vergelesses Blanc "Les Cloux", Rollin certainly has that special spark. The grapes were grown on vines 40-45 years old in the Cloux parcel on the northern slope of the Corton hill. It is spontaneously fermented and spends 12-14 months on its lees in 228-l barrels (20% new). The advantageously located parcel lends a richer more intense quality than you would normally get from Pernand-Vergelesses. When combined with the racing acidity and minerality typical of the Domaine Rollin style, it results in a gorgeous and complex wine, worthy of consideration.

It is a flexible, eager-to-please grape, responding well to just about anything a winemaker...
