Etna Rosso "Nardalici", Terre di Giurfo - 2020

Item # 41660 750 mL

A classic red wine from Mount Etna based mostly on Nerello Mascalese and 15% Nerello Cappuccio. The vines were planted in 1930 and they come from Viagrande Aci Sant'Antonio on the southeastern side of the mountain. Needless to say, the soils are endless varieties of volcanic soils - as every single eruption of the volcano gives a unique offering.

Staff Pick Notes

This ruby red wine from Sicily is delicious! It's made mainly with the indigenous grape Nerello Mascalese and a bit of Nerello Cappuccio. The vineyards are located at high altitude, about seven hundred meters above the sea level. This factor creates a big change in temperature between day and night, an excellent factor for vine growing. In addition, being very close to Mount Etna, an active volcano, the soil is rich of volcanic loose and minerals. On the nose you can notice red berries aroma, strawberries, and cherries. In the palate you can enjoy spices flavors such cinnamon and pepper followed by a crisp minerality. It's a balanced and elegant wine that I would pair with grilled meat or cheese.
