Pusser's Gunpowder Proof Royal Navy Rum

A rum of reference for the entire category, and until very recently the most important expression of this historical style of rum - for a full generation since the Royal Navy decomissioned sailor's daily rum rations - Sir Charles Tobias was the only person the original recipe was shared with from the Royal admiralty themselves - and with it he created Pusser's rum. This gunpowder proof expression refers to the classic standard 54.5% abv of the rum - strong enough to ignite gunpowder thus ensuring it was not watered down. Stylistically the spirit itself blends in different flavors on the tropics leaning into heavier, darker notes of treacle, spices and ultra-ripe fruits with a present but gentle amount of estery funk.
