Here at Astor, our team likes to think we're experts in our field. You can ask us any question about wine or spirits or sake and we'll have an answer. Of course, we might get stumped every now and then, but it's very rare that we discover a grape or region we've never even heard of before. I can't speak for everyone else on the team, but I was yesterday years old when I learned about Conca de Barberá, a region in Catalonia. Conca means basin in Catalan and very accurately describes this secluded region that sits surrounded by mountains on all sides. With it's Mediterranean climate, this hidden gem is the ideal place to grow Trepat, a late ripening, high acid grape that produces mouth watering, tart red fruited, black pepper and red flower petal laced wines. An amazing summer red to enjoy chilled!
