Langhe Rosato "Chiamblo", Cagliero - 2023

750 mL
Item # 40675

Rosato is Italian for rosé. This comes from a tiny property in the commune of Novello. A blend based on Barbera and Nebbiolo, we can't think of a more accessible Piedmontese wine to drink during the warmer months of the year.

Staff Pick Notes

It's difficult to tell with the dark glass, but this is a light Rosé and definitely not your typical Italian Rosato. The flavors got me thinking, so I looked at a map. The Langhe area of Piedmont is actually pretty close to, and north of, Provence, so it should surprise no one that this is a very nice--almost Provence style--Rosé. Made from Barbera and a dash of Nebbiolo, this is a light, dry, mineral-laden offering from the foggy hills of the Piedmont. With a delicate violet-inflected nose, it's truly a beauty and worth a try.

The areas that are most strongly associated with Barbera (for good reason) are the Alba and Asti DOCs, which consistently produce...
