Staff Pick Notes

This bottle is very much textbook New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc (big acidity, boisterous tropical and citrus flavors), but it isn't like watching the same reruns of your favorite shows over and over. While so many of the wines of this particular style tend to be kaleidoscopic on the palatte (i.e. the flavors tend to run together), this wine has genuine definition and precision of flavors; moving from pineapple to passionfruit, grapefruit to lime, and fresh cut grass to leafy thyme. A mix of grapes from the breezy and cool South Island (Marlborough) and the much warmer Gisborne region on the North Island, the wine shows a wonderful balance that the genre sometimes lacks. Refreshing and lovely, but it isn't afraid to let its hair down.

Some are fermented in barrel, others in stainless steel. Some...
