Barolo "1961", Ciabot Berton - 2018

Item # 40128 750 mL

1961 marks the year when the Oberto family began their current era of estate-bottling their production in their then new winery. They are located in the La Morra commune and today boast a mere 12 ha of prime vineyards in the region. This "1961" commemorative bottling comes from the best parcels of their Nebbiolo vines from the historic Roggeri, Bricco San Biagio and Rive crus.

Staff Pick Notes

I have a frustrating time with wines from Barolo. They’re often far too young or past their prime. It’s tricky landing anywhere in the middle. This is a traditional Barolo blended from three of Berton’s top parcels Roggeri, Bricco San Biagio, and Rive. While the fruits and tannins show off this wine's youthful vigor there are some mature flavors as well: hay, game, and dried currants. The wine is only just starting to strut. So enjoy it now, in ten years, or anywhere in between.
