A Pinot Noir from vines planted on the north facing slopes of Mount Etna in the commune of Randazzo. The vines were planted with a massale selection of Pinot from Burgundy. Planted in Albarello, the classic practice of Sicily, with a dense planting of 10000 vines per hectare. This intense planting helps render an exquisite Pinot Noir. Fresh, fragrant and true to the elegance of a fine Pinot Noir.

Gulfi is a name that any Sicily fan or organic wine lover should know - look for their signature labels of an ancient mosaic of the Grecian myth of forbidden love, Eros & Psyche. I’m a longtime fan of Gulfi’s lineup, but I’ve found a new favorite! Their 2017 ‘Pinò’ is a masterpiece with an alternate label featuring the skies over Mount Etna & made from Burgundian Pinot Noir planted on lava rocks! True to Gulfi’s philosophy, this is a wine that ‘awakens the senses,’ with a fulfilling aromatic experience of stewed cranberry, volcanic ash, & dried red florals. On the palate I was blown away by how bright the fruit is even after almost a decade in bottle. Savory tannins balance crunchy red cherry for a long smooth finish. Try this bottle & fall in love as though hit by one of Eros’ arrows. Pair w/ spicy pizza and sunset viewings in the park.
