This is a whisky bottled at its absolute peak--a perfect maturation and an example of the inimitable nature of truly great old Scotch. Not over-oaked in the least, the whisky is able to joyfully show-off all of its secondary and tertiary maturity. Most impressively there is still grain at the heart here as well as plenty of distillery character. The palate is satin, pure luxury (a term we do not use freely), like a massage for your taste buds, The flavors are scintillating with a percolating harmony that hits on stewed fruits, smoke, spice and espresso beans. The finish crescendos and lasts long after your final sip and it's here across the mid-palate that the hallmarks of this distillery reveal themselves again with tropical and notes of lychee, grilled pineapple, tinned peaches, and candied ginger. Almost miraculously, these flavors keep going eventually resolving into white tea, chess pie, and salted banana taffy. Absolutely remarkable.
