Staff Pick Notes

The name of this red wine probably derives from the town of Troia in the Province of Foggia the legendary founder of which was the Greek hero Diomedes, after he had destroyed the ancient Troy. Bad for Troy, but good for us. Because he also brought this fantastic grape variety to Italy. And good for the Angiuli family of winegrowers, that make wine since 1880. Nero di Troia is a native Apulian grape variety with a thick, polyphenol-rich skin. From a careful manual selection of the grapes and a long maceration, this wine develops a lively and intense colour, an elegant bouquet with notes of violets, black cherries and spices. Fresh in taste and yet rich in polyphenols and tannins. This wine needs good steak!
