Glen Graeme 19yr Blended Malt

750 mL
Item # 36925

An exclusive blend of single malts from some of Scotland's top distilleries with a rare batch of ex-bourbon mature Macallan at its heart, with the rest of the blend composed of Aultmore and Glenlivet all three aged in first fill casks. All of the single malts in the whisky were matured for a minimum of 19 years before being blended and bottled with their natural color, un-chill filtered at a healthy 96 proof. Paying for single malts this old with one bill has become by and large a thing of the past. To get several of them together in one bottle easily makes this one of the best values in the category. Notes include beautiful clover honey, yellow peaches, vanilla bean, coconut, apricot marmalade, ginger candy, grassy malt, heather, earthy peat and baking spices. This whisky really delivers.

Staff Pick Notes

It's only through working together that we can push the boundaries of what we're capable of. Yes, I know that sounds sappy, but it’s a truth that I think the whisky world needs to hear again and again. Fandom for particular distilleries and single malts has reached such a fever pitch we might as well wear face paint and foam fingers. That said, whisky consumers are always ravenous for “the next new thing.” If that’s what you’re after, look to blends not single malts for whisky’s new frontier. Glen Graeme brings Macallan, Aultmore, and Glenlivet together harmoniously with notes of rich cream, pipe smoke, mossy peat, bold mint, and a long finish that makes for a blend greater than the sum of its single malts.

Scotland

History:Distillation was brought to Scotland from Ireland by missionary monks in the 6th century. In 1644, the first taxes were imposed on Scottish distillers by England, with the result that most of the nation’s whisky was soon distilled illicitly. With the Parliament’s passing of the “Excise Act” in 1824, licensing fees for distilleries were much cheaper. Distilleries started to take out licenses, and since then, the distillation industry in Scotland has been continuously expanding....
