Staff Pick Notes

Morey-Saint-Denis produces fantastic village wines that are relatively unknown and extremely delicious. Its more tony and renowned neighbors Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny are said to have more distinct styles, but their fame and cachet also command much higher prices. Regis Forey is producing some stellar red Burgundy with this village appellation wine. Fresh red cherries, dried herbs (definitely dried mint), and a touch minerality make for a splendid tipple. This wine is fresh and vivacious, while still showing a bit of earthy development. This is an extremely food-friendly cuvée from two separate parcels in Morey-Saint-Denis. I would drink this anytime, anywhere.

Terroir, the concept that wines from a specific region have unique and identifiable traits, is intricately...

Fans of rich, unctuous, and well-oaked Chardonnay will enjoy Chassagne-Montrachet, whose age-worthy offerings offer all the fatness of a California wine, yet retain a very Burgundian, mineral-driven core and great acidity....
