Paleokerisio, Dom. Glinavos - 2022

Item # 33316 500 mL

Meaning "old fashioned" (paleokerisio), this sparkling revives the well-known traditional semi-sparkling wine of the region. Local Debina, Vlahiko, and Bekari grapes go through skin contact before fermentation, resulting a light amber orange color. Off-dry charming sparkling with flavors of baked pear/apple, orange peels, and mountain spices.

Staff Pick Notes

Paleokerisio is one of those super trendy wines that really lives up to the hype. Orange, natural, semi-sparkling, and semi-dry - it finds its own niche and has taken the NY wine market by storm. It's incredibly light yet imparts a hearty, creamy richness, packed densely with aromas of clove, dried apricots, and ripe peaches that lend a hint of sweetness. A distinct yeasty, bready finish coupled with a frothy texture and low abv give the impression of beer, and indeed I've shared this wine to the delight of several friends who are primarily beer drinkers. A fun bottle to bring to a party!
