Ch. de Cranne, Bordeaux Blanc - 2023

Item # 33059 750 mL

This is based on the Sauvignon Gris grape variety that, today, is rarely even heard of in Bordeaux, although it was commonly grown generations ago. Sauvignon Gris is more about elegance and floral fruit aromas. The vines are planted in clay, gravel and chalk-based soils. The Lacoste family is in its 7th generation of winemaking in hills of Bordeaux.

Staff Pick Notes

Here is a dry Bordeaux Blanc made primary from the Sauvignon Gris grape. While technically one of the official Bordeaux Blanc blending grapes, along with Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Muscadelle, Sauvignon Gris is a rare bird, and even more so as the primary grape. While it's rarely seen, it's not that much of a departure from your classic Sauvignon Blanc. Crisp, clean and refreshing with nice acidity and bright herbal notes. It pairs well with soft fresh goat and sheep's milk cheese, but it also has the acid to stand up to salads. Cheers!

For white Bordeaux, only three varieties are permitted: Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillion, and Muscadelle. The exact percentages of each grape variety used in any...
