A delicious Sangiovese with ripe plum and blackcurrant notes and with Mediterranean herbs. Medium-bodied with ripe tannins. Rosso spends 30 months in older 30 hectoliters Slovenian oak before it is bottled and released. The wine does not see any fining or filtering.

Giuseppe Sesti was once an accomplished astronomer and prolific published author on the science of the stars. He decided to use that expertise to grow world class Sangiovese. Now primarily run by his daughter Elisa, the winery Sesti makes a world renowned Brunello. But if you're like me and rarely have the money and/or time to spend waiting for Brunello to come of age, try this special Rosso today. Unfiltered and relatively light on its feet, the wine features gorgeous bright red fruit, touches of oak and tobacco, with savory notes of mushroom and great length. Perfect choice for meaty pasta dishes or mushroom risotto. Will benefit from a nice decanting.
