This is the 4 € wine you have been looking for in the U. S.! So often people return from a European adventure wondering why the amazing & inexpensive local wines consumed while abroad are not available in this country. (They are if you just know where to look...Astor Wines...wink wink.) This wonderful example produced by the Gomes Pereira family exhibits notes of preserved lemons, dry lemongrass, sage, delicate herbs, almonds, and fresh chestnuts. The flavors are delightfully engaging & provoked conversation until the bottle was empty. I would happily pay $20 for this wine if I didn't already know it was such a steal.

A white grape variety grown in Portugal, known for producing wines with lots of juicy citrus acidity. When a component of Vinho Verde, it is called Pedernã.
