Momo Sauvignon Blanc - 2023

Item # 31036 750 mL

Momo is an entry level Sauvignon Blanc at the iconic New Zealand estate, Seresin. Made from estate and some purchased grapes, the wine is treated and vinified the same way as the estate's top cuvées. The fruit is hand-picked, hand-sorted and naturally fermented, with a minimum of intervention from the winemaker. Enjoy this crisp and balanced wine with all types of seafood.

Staff Pick Notes

There are different styles of Sauvignon Blanc in the world. The European style is lighter, dryer, and sometimes austere. The New World style is fuller and delivers riper, softer fruit. Momo Sauvignon Blanc is that. Aromatic, ripe, and exotic, it exhibits tropical and citrus fruit with herbaceous and mineral notes. Ripe guava, kiwi, grapefruit, lemon, fresh-cut grass, and wet stone also abound. This is an appealing dry white wine and a true expression of a Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. It's also a great companion to seafood. Personally, I like this wine with grilled sea bass with herbs and lemon and a green salad on the side, or sometimes a buttered tilapia with steamed vegetables and tartar sauce, and occasionally on its own--a glass or two after a hard day's work.

Modern New Zealand wines have incredible depth and all the complexity of their Old World...

Cat pee aside, Sauvignon Blanc (sometimes called "Fumé Blanc" in California) is a bit of a chameleon in terms of style, and quite utterly at the whim of the winemaker. Some are fermented in barrel, others in stainless steel. Some...
