VdF "Quartz" Les Cailloux du Paradis, Courtois - 2020

Item # 30859 750mL

Enjoy this 100% Sauvignon Blanc from Claude Courtois. It has a great acidity with green apple and pear flavors, but also possessed of nutty characteristics. Brown sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, and allspice are some of the flavors in the glass. Great complexity with a vibrant, long finish.

Staff Pick Notes

What a truly unique find! "Quartz" will blow away any preconceived notions of what "Sancerre," or, for that matter, Sauvignon Blanc, is. This 100% Sauvignon Blanc carries with it a heft and spiciness not often seen within the varietal, while also showing the typical mineral quality for which the Loire Valley is known. Golden in color and flavor, this wine opens with ripe orchard apples and yellow pears, carrying over to warm baking spices and a crisp finish. At first sip it is almost reminiscent of a hard cider, but upon further inspection the wine will show depth of character and succinct elegance. I was teased in by the appealing label, and now I'm here to stay.

Some are fermented in barrel, others in stainless steel. Some...
