Item # 30788 750mL

As natural as it can be, this is a no-sulfur-added wine from Austria. A blend of 70% Chardonnay and Weissburgunder. Bright with aromas of flowers, think chamomile, and refreshing, yet it offers round body and texture.

Staff Pick Notes

"Trauben, Liebe and Zeit." Grapes, love, and time. To Styrian winemaker Franz Strohmeier, a guy who cites Carl Jung on his bottle tags, that's the only way you can make wine. No additives, no sulfur, nothing to do but tend to the vines and let the grapes do their work. It's a difficult wine to describe properly. A blend of Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay, it drinks like neither. Cidery, maybe even a touch volatile on the nose, with aromas that I can only describe as apple pie flavored sorbet served alongside a slice of tart Kaffir lime. The palate is textured and surprisingly mouth coating for all it's bright acidity and the fact that we're coming in here under 12% alcohol. As the finish goes on and on, it turns to petrol, mineral, and a pleasant, brioche-like leesiness. A wine to fascinate and delight, and drink with sauerbraten.

It is a flexible, eager-to-please grape, responding well to just about anything a winemaker...

Blauer Zweigelt), which yields full-bodied wines, deep in color and featuring bold flavors of...
