Recioto della Valpolicella, Quintarelli - 2011

Item # 28838 375 mL

The Recioto of the late, great Giuseppe Quintarelli was indeed a labor of love. A rich dessert wine, similar to Port ( but not fortified), Recioto has been a revered classic through the ages. Complex, interwoven notes of dried fruit, sultanas, sweet baking spices, open in to musky leather and bitter chocolate on a silky palate. Decant and serve with a light chill with aged, melting cheeses, heavy braises or with dark chocolate cake. Quintarelli's Recioto is a mixed Corvina based recipe with Rodinella, Molinara, Negrara, Cabernet Sauvignon, Croatina, Sangiovese, Nebbiolo and Pelara in the mix.

Valpolicella

This is a very large region that produces all sorts of red wines, often from the Corvina grape, that range from light, early-drinking, Beaujolais-esque efforts to hulking dried-grape monsters like Recioto and Amarone.
