Île de la Beauté Rosé, Dom. Fazi - 2023

Item # 26385 750 mL

Not often do you find rosé from Corsica on this side of the Atlantic. A lusciously ripe wine made from of Sciaccarellu, an indigenous grape of Corsica, and Grenache grown in the regions steep, rugged vineyards. A savory note of mixed olives comes across the palate, but only defines the sapid floral and berry profile.

Staff Pick Notes

If you love Provencal roses but are ready to branch out, search no further than this lovely Corsican rose. Hailing from the eastern coast of Corsica, Domaine Fazi was established by Vincent Fazi in the 1970s. The rocky landscape of this island translates into a chisled, rose full of stony minerality, yet nicely balanced by notes of strawberry and wild tart raspberries. The wine is a blend of Sciacarrellu, a local grape, as well as the more commonly seen merlot, grenache, and cinsault. The crisp, refreshing profile of this wine makes it a perfect match for a sultry New York summer day. Drink well chilled, and pair with hard cheese, fruits, summer salads, and movie nights in the park.

Some wine drinkers are quick to dismiss varieties that become too fashionable, but Merlot is popular for good reason. It has one of the most impressive and distinctive textures of any wine, and has long been prized for the "softening" effect it can have on Cabernet Sauvignon - especially...
