Staff Pick Notes

This just might be a "what you see is NOT what you get" kind of wine. Some of the varieties in this field blend (Côt AKA Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cab Franc)may lead you to believe this juice is austere, brooding or dark - the kind of serious wine someone might drink while wearing a paisley smoking jacket and/or boning up on classical philosophy in a dimly lit, wood-paneled study... but tasting it offers a totally different sensory experience. Vinified and aged in neutral oak, this wine is agile and accessible, with bright acidity. Minerality drives the flavor profile rather than fruity or vegetal notes. It refreshes rather than fatigues the palate. It's playful. It's delicious. It's minimalism at its best, in the vineyards, cellar, and final product. Drink up!

More About This Wine

Loire

There’s a lot to remember when it comes to the Loire. In fact,...

Malbec

Known as Côt throughout much of France, Malbec is the dark-skinned variety that put Argentinian wine on the map - and likewise, Argentinian Malbec saved the grape from near obscurity. The Cahors appellation in France still relies on Malbec to distinguish many of its wines, but the area is exceptional in this regard. As the grape can be quite difficult to cultivate, it has become far less popular over the years, even in its Bordeaux home. Its South American renaissance has ensured, however, that...
