Staff Pick Notes

Charles Joguet is a name to know if you have an interest in the wines of Chinon. He started out as an artist, but took over the family domaine in 1957 and never looked back. For years his family sold their grapes to negociants for production of generic wines. But Charles decided to take it all back and vinify wines from separate plots in order to highlight the region's varied and unique soil types. This 'Cuvée de la Cure" is one of their entry level wines - a blend of several vineyards planted in gravel soils- and it's a fantastic introduction to their style. Bursting with fresh flavors - raspberry reduction, over ripe strawberries and a splash of red chili. Nice acidity, medium bodied, and a versatile food wine for those especially difficult to pair vegetables (asparagus, green beans, etc.). Drink with a slight chill!

In fact,...
