Johnny Drum Private Stock 101° Bourbon

Item # 22107 750 mL

Drew Kulsveen at KBD deftly blends some of their older reserves and bottles the juice at 101 proof. Excellent on the rocks, but ideal with some branch water for slow slipping, this whiskey is highlighted by notes of cedar, peanut, mild caramel, butter, oak spice, and tannin. A solid value for an old-school bourbon.

Staff Pick Notes

My first bartending job in New York, I was lucky to work in an establishment with a lengthy whiskey list. I had tasted most of the bourbons on the shelves of Astor. But one day a bottle of Johnny Drum Private Stock caught my eye. Shrouded in mystery, the producer of this Bourbon is generally unknown. What I can tell you is how much I love this Bourbon in all of its 101 proof glory. Supposedly it was named after a drummer boy in the Civil War who returned to his home state of Kentucky to grow corn. This bourbon shows exciting notes of crème brûlée, peanut shell, spicy cinnamon, and warm vanilla. This is my bourbon of choice to drink with a cube of ice or neat with a splash of water.
