A special bottling from this historic brand that traces a significant moment in its history back to the mid thirteenth century. Applying their own special alchemy the whiskies for King Alexander are famously drawn from six cask types including ex-bourbon, oloroso sherry butts, Port pipes, Madeira casks, Marsala casks and Cabernet Sauvignon red wine casks. The panoply of flavors range from stewed late summer berries, Christmas spices, raisin bread, sticky toffee, spicy tobacco and mocha too name just a few.

Alexander III was King of Scots from 1249 to his death in 1286. Balvenie's King Alexander III is the kings of Scotch whisky, right now. History:Distillation was brought to Scotland from Ireland by missionary monks in the 6th century. In 1644, the first taxes were imposed on Scottish distillers by England, with the result that most of the nation’s whisky was soon distilled illicitly. With the Parliament’s passing of the “Excise Act” in 1824, licensing fees for distilleries were much cheaper. Distilleries started to take out licenses, and since then, the distillation industry in Scotland has been continuously expanding....
