Lemorton Reserve, Calvados Domfrontais

Item # 21460 750 mL

The 4-6yrs of aging for this Calvados belies that level of complexity you encounter once you pour some into your glass. Being pear based, as many brandies from this part of Normandy are, the spirit is naturally more expressive, and the Lemorton's aging and blending methods coax out unexpected levels of depth in this spirit making it easily one of the best all around bottles in the category.

Staff Pick Notes

I have been a huge fan of Calvados for the better part of a decade. When I first tasted Lemorton, I knew something was different. Delicious! But different. First off, where most other Calvados are based exclusively on apple, Lemorton uses about 70% pear in their distillate. Pear is a signature of the Calvados Domfrontais region, but Lemorton use more than double the minimum amount required. Second, the barrel aging. With Calvados being a brandy that comes from the distillation of cider, Lemorton reserves their cider in oak for 11 months before distillation and then for 4 to 6 years in barrels that have an average age of 30 years in use. This coaxes out an unmatched complexity and depth of flavor. If you love Calvados like I do, Lemorton is something you must taste and experience.
