Beaujolais, Ch. Cambon - 2022

Item # 19896 750 mL

A scrumptious Beaujolais that's all about fresh berried fruits mingling stage center with nothing to hide. Easy-drinking, dry, and a perfect match for simple fare, like burgers or chicken salad. This Gamay was carbonic-fermented (traditional, whole-cluster fermentation) in inert enamel tank, then bottled with little to no sulfur, yielding a open, early-drinking style of red.

Staff Pick Notes

Youth is not always wasted on the young. This lovely 2012 Gamay has much more elegance and maturity than you might expect from such a recent vintage in Beaujolais. But I have to tell you that I purchased this wine at least 5 times so far this past summer to enjoy with dinner, share with friends and just kick back and chill. It pairs wonderfully well with a wide variety of foods. At a recent dim sum dinner this was by far the favorite wine on the table. But I am truly looking forward to how it matches up with heartier autumn fare. With this structure, it is definitely up to the challenge.

Burgundy

The range of wine styles offered in Burgundy rivals that of any other region. Fans of rich, unctuous, and well-oaked Chardonnay will enjoy Chassagne-Montrachet, whose age-worthy offerings offer all the fatness of a California wine, yet retain a very Burgundian, mineral-driven core and great acidity....

Beaujolais

Beaujolais is the classic expression of the Gamay grape. These red wines (labeled simply “Beaujolais”) are approachable, grapey, and fun – ideal for low-pressure sipping. Beaujolais-Villages is a step up. Compared to basic Beaujolais, the rules for Beaujolais-Villages wines are more strict. Villages wine is produced in far smaller quantities. Beaujolais Nouveau is perhaps the most gulpable wine made anywhere, and it should be drunk very soon after its release, which occurs each year on the...
