Pinot Noir "Cuvée M," Laurent Barth - 2022

Item # 17338 750 mL

About half of the grapes were destemmed before fermenting in tank. The wine aged for a year in older barrique barrels. This is not made every year, the production is minimal and comes from the estate's oldest Pinot Noir vines. A red wine for the table and an ideal pairing with lamb burgers.

Staff Pick Notes

Established since 2004 in Bennwihr, Laurent Barth has revitalized this 4 hectares of vineyard, mainly located on hillsides. All farmed manually and organically. Just a half hectare plot of 40-50 year old vines is dedicated to red With rich black currant and crushed berry character, this is a wine equally balanced in earth and fruit. Vinified in steel and matured in old oak, this wine is savvy but it is old school. This is the type of wine I truly love, you can taste the winemakers touch on each sip. Treat yourself to this delightful Pinot Noir and experience it for yourself.

Pairing Advice

"Barth's earthy, herbal, and elegant Pinot Noir reminded me very much of meal I ate in Strasbourg of pan-roasted salmon and potatoes topped with creamy parsley purée. Though it might be a cliché to say that Pinot Noir goes well with salmon, in this case it's the harmony of the herbal and earthy notes in the wine with potatoes and parsley cream that will really make this pairing come alive." - Sophie B.

Once part of the Holy Roman Empire, Alsace was gradually put under French sovereignty during the 17th Century and eventually made one of the provinces of France. Yet, as evidenced by the persistece of a dialect of Upper German in the region even today, Alsace's ties to Germany...
