A sparkling white wine to keep in house by the case as this is a bottle to satisfy the crowds. The Bisol winery makes several Proseccos but this particular is called “Crede”- which is dialect for clay, a defining feature of the terrain in the Valdobbiadene area. Pair with homemade, salty potato chips fried in olive oil.

Staff Pick Notes

Just when I try to pigeonhole a wine category, along comes something to throw me off. The wine is light, but not too delicate. It shows hints of cream and yeast more than white flowers on the nose. It offers lovely fine bubbles, undertones of candied lemon and mandarin, and acidity that asserts itself on the palate. This is a Prosecco that should be enjoyed as its own beverage, so don't add OJ or Aperol! It's a wonderfully refreshing summer apertíf. While Prosecco as a style encompasses a few appellations in the Veneto and Friuli, the Prosecco Superiore DOCG is heads above the rest.

Prosecco

Until recently, "Prosecco" could refer either to a wine or to a white grape. In 2009, however, the grape was renamed "Glera" in a bid to protect Prosecco's good name. Prosecco is usually a sparkling wine made by the Charmat method, though still versions do exist. Because it is so easy to drink, with or without food, Prosecco is a hugely popular choice for parties.
