Item # 12283 750 mL

Ronco del Gnemiz has three small parcels of Friulano, ranging in vine age 20 to 60 years old. All three plots are vinified separately. The grapes are whole cluster pressed and fermented entirely in used barrels on their lees. There is no malolactic fermentation giving a freshness to this fuller-bodied white wine from northern Italy.

Gnemiz? Must be Italian! Italy is not yet renowned for its white wines, despite the fact that the country produces more white than red. Much of this white is meant for easy drinking, refreshing, high acid whites that are destined to be chugged stone cold. This wine is not in that category at all. The fresh malic acid is preserved, and the wine is aged in used barrels which amplifies the lovely texture. Absolutely one of the finest examples of Tocai Friulano that I've ever encountered!
