Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato, Crivelli - 2022

Item # 11706 750 mL

Ruchè is a beauty of an indigenous Piedmontese red variety, and Crivelli's is a must-try. An array of aromas to savor: roses, pepper, black cherries, and cinnamon. Lovely fresh acidity and a fine backbone of mineral make this a delicate wine to enjoy any time. Marco Maria Crivelli is one of a small group of farmers who fervently believe in the excellence of Piedmont's "other" grape varieties, indigenous to the province of Asti. His ancestors planted five hectares of vineyards in 1919; these vines grow in mineral-rich sand and tufa soils.

Staff Pick Notes

Oh Ruchè, one of the many hidden gems Italian wine has gifted us. A beautifully aromatic grape that will act as a magician in your glass and in your mind. From flavors of kirsch and black raspberry, black pepper reminiscent of Blue Weber agave spice, and even Bulgarian rose, you are surely to be entertained with this one! Incredible concentration on the palate with enough acidity and tannin to balance the ripeness, this wine over delivers in every way. For tradition, try pairing with your next stuffed pasta dish, or get creative and go for something Indian, such as Tandoori Chicken or even Curry. If you are looking for a new grape to fall in love with, consider Ruchè!
