Hailing from Cadenhead's Distillery on the tiny island of Campbeltown , Scotland, let me introduce you to Old Raj. With a botanical blend of Juniper, Coriander, Seville Orange Peel, Licorice, Angelica Root, Orris, Cinnamon, Cassia Quills, Nutmeg, and Post distillation Saffron is added, contributing to the slight yellow color of the spirit. This is a superb addition to any home bar and will slide into the classic gin cocktails just as one would hope. I adore this in a Negroni Spagliatto where you top with sparkling wine. The extra proof (55% abv) and the resulting texture of this spirit keeps this Gin present in a drink without any prevailing notes of alcohol or bitterness. Scotland

History:Distillation was brought to Scotland from Ireland by missionary monks in the 6th century. In 1644, the first taxes were imposed on Scottish distillers by England, with the result that most of the nation’s whisky was soon distilled illicitly. With the Parliament’s passing of the “Excise Act” in 1824, licensing fees for distilleries were much cheaper.
