Clontarf Irish Whiskey

Clontarf is an intriguing triple distilled, blended Irish whiskey. On the nose it is quite perfume-like, but the palate is soft with flavors of tobacco, toffee, and vanilla. It shows a smidge of maltiness.The spirit spends anywhere from 4-6 years in first-fill Bourbon barrels, rounding out the flavor profile. This whiskey is a pleasure to drink, with enough complexity to be enjoyed neat, but loads of cocktail versatility. If you want to play around with some of the classic whiskey cocktails, this is a great substitute as the base for a Manhattan or a Julep. I would even experiment with a take on the Sazerac. You certainly won't need the luck of the Irish when using this as an alternative. At this price, it's already as if you've found a pot of gold.
