Bushmills Original Irish Whiskey

The Old Bushmills Distillery is the oldest licensed distillery in the world. If that isn’t a claim to quality whiskey, I don’t know what is. I’m a fan of all that Bushmills has to offer, but the Original is exemplary of the place where value meets quality in the Irish whiskey category. I only wish drinkers in the U.S. weren’t so brand-loyal. I have spent a load of time in Ireland, and they don’t settle on just one. Bushmills Original is a blend of 5-year-old grain whiskey and triple-pot-distilled malt whiskey. The harmonious marriage of single grain and single malt whiskeys is perfection once it meets the glass. The resulting aroma is floral with a hint of toasted nut. The palate is a mix of grassy and grainy notes with a finish that tastes like porridge smothered in the finest manuka honey. It’s not only good, but good FOR you.
