Kavalan Classical Single Malt Whisky

The wide world of whisky expanded even further in 2005 with the opening of Kavalan Distillery by the King Car Company in Yilan County, Taiwan. Kavalan quickly gained recognition after its first released bottling in 2008, and in 2010 one of their releases actually beat out 3 prominent Scotch brands in a blind tasting, followed quickly by winning the Best Single Malt Whisky in the world with their Vinho Barrique expression in 2015. Named after the indigenous people of the region, this whisky shows the beauty of tropical aging, with deep oak character imparted with a much lower age of entry required. While this does mean a lower yield in final product, this entry line gives all the deep layered fruit tones of mango and stone fruit expected of the style while also bolstering a beautiful bouquet of vanilla and baking spices.
